Design studio Between the Walls announces the completion of the Zecczer Office, a transformative project that breathes new life into a neglected interior in the heart of the city. The studio has successfully converted the site into a sophisticated, two-level workspace that strikes a poetic balance between architectural heritage and modern utility.

«The office is housed within an early 20th-century landmark designed by the renowned architect Yosyp Zecczer, the project’s namesake. Spanning 60 square meters on the main floor with an additional 20 square meters across an integrated mezzanine, the design honors the building’s lineage while pivoting toward a contemporary future.

The defining architectural gesture of the project was the mastery of the vertical plane. With ceiling heights reaching 4.05 meters, Between the Walls integrated an entresol to optimize the footprint. This created a clear spatial hierarchy: the ground floor is dedicated to high-intensity collaboration and formal meetings, while the upper tier serves as an informal lounge for relaxation and dining.
The material palette intentionally avoids literal "Gothic" clichés or direct mimicry of the building’s ornate facade. Instead, the studio opted for the understated language of Quiet Luxury.
The color story is a masterclass in contextual observation. The dominant milky tones were "sampled" directly from the facade of the neighboring building visible through the windows, effectively pulling the streetscape into the interior.

This seamless transition between the exterior environment and the workspace creates a continuous architectural conversation, anchored by accents of deep navy and rich, dark wood.
The functional heart of the office remains hidden in plain sight through a series of clever "stealth" design interventions. A kitchen block is seamlessly integrated into a niche beneath the staircase and finished in a striking gold lamination, while the bathroom is entirely masked by mirrored panels to create the effect of an "invisible cube" that expands the room’s sense of volume. This spatial flexibility is further enhanced by a modular furniture system and hidden projection equipment, allowing a textile partition to effortlessly transform the primary work zone into a dynamic venue for presentations and events.
To avoid the sterility of mass-produced office furniture, the majority of the pieces, including the massive executive desk and plush sofas, were created from custom sketches. This bespoke approach ensures that the interior feels curated rather than assembled, reflecting the unique character of a space where historical continuity meets ergonomic precision.
